About this product

This is a spice mixture which was brought by the Sinhalese from India to the West Indies in the 19th century. Popular in the Caribbean, the addition of one ingredient to the many aromatic spices gives this curry its distinctive character: toasted rice. The rice acts as a natural thickener, and also gives the dish its lovely toasted flavour.  The curry can be prepared with meat, chicken, seafood or vegetables, and it works well made with coconut milk or yoghurt. For a truly authentic Caribbean experience, try cooking this curry with goat meat (mutton works equally well if you cannot find goat).

Ingredients: Rice, Cumin, Coriander, Pepper, Fenugreek, Mustard, Cloves, Turmeric.
