About this product

Pomegranate molasses is a fruity, sweet and sour ingredient which is commonly used in Middle Eastern and especially Persian cuisine. Its sweet and sour flavour is reminiscent of tamarind, rather than say sultanas or prunes, and it is used in sweet and savoury preparations alike. Pomegranate molasses is found in everything from salad dressings to baba ganoush (the delicious aubergine dip), and is essential in one of Iran’s national specialities, fesenjan (a braised chicken and walnut dish).

A couple of tablespoons of pomegranate molasses is great added to the marinade for BBQ ribs, and also for chicken. On desserts, it is lovely drizzled over ice cream or meringues, and it can be added to juices and smoothies to give them some sweetness. Our pomegranate molasses comes from the Lebanese artisan brand Mymoune, and is 100% concentrated pomegranate juice with no added sugar.
