About this product

One of the national dishes of Cambodia, Lok Lak is a basic and simple dish, but absolutely full of flavour. Sliced steak is marinaded in ketchup, soy sauce and palm sugar, before being stir-fried with lots of garlic. A dipping sauce is made with Lok Lak spice (a blend of salt and Kampot peppercorns) and lime juice, and this contrasts deliciously with the sweetness in the beef. Traditionally Lok Lak is served with lettuce, tomato and cucumber, plus steamed rice – although some places in Cambodia serve it ‘a la Americain’, with chips and a fried egg on the side! Whatever, it is a lovely meal, quick to prepare, and great to share.
