About this product
Basil seeds have long been used in the Indian Subcontinent, and throughout Southeast Asia, in sweetened drinks and desserts such as the famous Indian falooda, and they are also useful as a thickener. Another of the seeds which has become more popular in the West due to its health properties, they can be used in much the same way as chia seeds. One thing they are very useful for is making sugar-free jam, as the seeds will thicken and help set the jam. The seeds keep their texture well when used in drinks, and give a slightly floral taste (with obvious hints of basil). Basil seeds are important in the Ayurvedic diet – they are a strong antioxidant, and are helpful with stomach ailments and problems.
