About this product

Aleppo pepper is grown in Turkey and Syria, and takes its name from an ancient city in Northern Syria which was for centuries a major link on the Spice Road, and a famous centre of international cuisine. This wonderful ingredient from Turkey can be used with almost any culinary application. The flakes come from a fat red chilli, mild & sweet in flavour which are dried and coarsely ground. The whole chillies are firstly de seeded and salted before drying then flaked and lastly rubbed in oil to give the flakes a deliciously good texture and provides their unique sweet flavour. The process of removing the chilli seeds gives the flakes their mild flavour.

Aleppo pepper can be sprinkled in any type of dishes. From salads and hoummous to hearty stews and grilled meats.

In Turkey it is often seen in restaurants as a condiment alongside salt and pepper. It is a nice substitute to your everyday chilli flakes due to their complex flavour and lack of heat or harshness.
