Khmeli Suneli

About this product
This is the national spice blend of Georgia (‘suneli’ is the Georgian word for spice), and it is also very popular in the surrounding countries of the Caucasus. What makes it different is the inclusion of ground marigold flowers, which bring fresh notes to the blend. Other spices used here include coriander, red basil, dill and blue fenugreek, which is a local variant of the spice commonly used in curry powders. The result is a blend which is warm and aromatic, balanced by fresh and earthy notes. Khmeli Suneli is used as an all-purpose seasoning in Georgia, but works particularly well in meat stews and casseroles, and also with beans and chickpeas. It is also wonderful used to season roast vegetables, and a sprinkle will transform a side dish of wilted spinach.
