Marjoram is a close relative of oregano, but has a slightly sweeter, more delicate taste, generally less aggressive than its pungent cousin. It is a staple in Mediterranean cuisine, and it is commonly used as part of ‘mixed herb’ blends where it is the element that brings balance to the more powerful flavours involved. It goes particularly well with vegetables, chicken and shellfish and it also has a great affinity with tomatoes. Its floral, aromatic qualities make it great used in salad dressings.
